I wanted something happier on my blog.....
I thought I would share some
pictures of Bubba from today.
We all know he has a LOVE of cars... trains
.... shoot anything with wheels. :)
He has the best BIG little sister
that will put together awesome tracks.
It makes him so happy!!!
This was just the simple reminder that I needed......
There is always, always, ALWAYS
something to be thankful for.
Then BUBBA-ZILLA came and
destroyed the tracks!!!!!
Regan screamed, we laughed,
and Mommy had to rebuild the town......
It is these simple little moments
that make me grateful to be
Bubba and Regan's Mommy.
Today on facebook I shared that I was thinking of going private with my blog. Wow, talk about an out poor of support and kindness. It is because of your kind words and my sweet Hubs that I have decided that I will NOT be going private. So, I will say this one time and then be done with it. My family does not take advantage of the state and their benefits in any way shape or form. I am sorry if you feel that we do and feel the need to write and unkind e-mail letting me know this BUT any services Bubba receives he is more than qualified for. (Trust me we have been put through the ringer to make sure.:) To be honest we do not even receive that many services for Bubba. We are hoping that this fact will change soon seeing as how his case worker feels that he is in need of a full time nurse. (Trust me this was a blow my little ego to feel that as a mother I am not enough... well, that is an entirely different post.) So, there it is.... if you don't like it.... don't read it. I am honest in my trials as a mother with a child with disabilities, as a mother with a "normal" child, and as a wife. All I can say is that I do my very best and if you feel that my family is some how taking advantage of "the system" well.... then don't read my blog and by all means please don't e-mail. I am so grateful to all of the amazing friends and family members that I have that are supportive and kind to our family!!!!! You have no idea what a support you are to us!!!! So, here's to lot's more posts and a NON-private blog!!

Good for you, baby girl!
I'm coming down in s week and can'r wait to see you. I need a Bubba hug!!
Oh how I hate how others have to bring someone down with their hateful words. As if you don't have enough to deal with. Hang in there. If I remember correctly, last year's home visit was passed with flying colors. Everything will go well and y'all will move on to another day. Your children are BLESSED to have you and your husband for parents.
I have never commented. Oh please don't go private. I come here from my niece's blog. I would miss Bubba's smile. I have sat at my computer and have wiped the tears streaming down my face, while reading your blog. Your family has touched me deeply. I pray for you and your family each day!
With love,
From Wisconsin
Hey, let me at 'em. No one knows how much you really put into this of your own resources, body, and soul. As a great philosopher once said of those kind of people "stupid is as stupid does". Julie, you are the best! Papa-Dad
I would be heartbroken if you went private! I'm so glad you decided not to, you are an inspiration to me and Bubba has a special place in my heart even though I've never met him!
Oh Sweetheart! I know I have never met you, but I so wish that I could somehow come through the computer and hug you. No one has walked in your shoes; she can not judge. Thank you for deciding to keep your blog public!
Julie Julie Julie....I have said it before and I will say it MANY TIMES in the future you are an AMAZING mom and there are few women out there who could handle your situation with the grace that you do! Anyone who thinks you are taking advantage of the system obviously has not spent much (if any) time with you. The government makes programs to help kids with special needs, and if you don't qualify then who does? Whoever sent that needs to find something better to do with their time....maybe they should spend a day volunteering with the Bubbas of the world and I think their outlook would change. Keep your chin up we love you!
So glad you are not going private!! Started reading the post and smiling (because Itty Bit has those exact same tracks with the silly alligator - and come on, how could you not smile with Bubba's delight?!) and then quickly got worried about your thought to go private!
People come here because they have found a connection with you and your family - because we can see God at work in your lives. Because God is good, and you're not afraid to blog about it.
I am so sorry that someone was unkind. That kind of someone, is probably the best kind of person to keep reading here... to better understand.
I know it's hard and it sucks sometimes, but my mom used to always say that part of the "job" of having a special needs child is simply educating the rest of the world. And you do that. With love.
So glad you share your lives and your family with us! I'd be heartbroken if you didn't post pictures and stories from your days!
i cannot fathom someone can think your taking advantage of the system... your an awesome mother and a smart woman, those resourses are there for you to utilize. only an ignorant person would have made such a comment to you. please dont go private, i love reading your blog and i love seeing bubbas beautiful smile and hearing of all the wonderful things you do with your family.
There are simply not words to express my anger at hearing you got such an email. If services exist for anyone it is for the least of these. Shame on anyone for judging another's situation. Shame.
I adore you and simply love that little Bubba boy.
You are a good Mother...that is why Bubba is doing as well as he is....no one could have taken better care of him than you....
Some people have nothing better to do with their time than point their fingers at other people and make ignorant assumptions and accusations. You are wonderful, Julie. I am so glad you are not going private. There are many readers out there who need to read your blog-- many of which haven't even stumbled upon it yet. Don't let the few mean-spirited people out there ruin it for the rest of us. There is no need for you to justify yourself to those kinds of people, either. All of us know what kind of mother and person you are. We love you and your family.
good ... glad you are not going private! Bubba has a bunch of fans here in Switzerland!!! :)
Glad you made the decision not to go private. Whoever sent you a rude email is an idiot!!! They don't know you and what you go through on a daily basis. I would challenge them to walk in your shoes for one day and see if they could handle it with the little amount of services you are getting! I know so many more families getting more services than your family with children functioning much higher than Bubba! Julie, you know you are NOT taking advantage and and we know it too! You are awesome! Don't forget it!!!
Julie,
Someone stating that someone like you is abusing the system obviously has never step foot in a wellfare office, taken care of a special needs child, or have had any type of hospitalization at all. I just think Bubba and Regan are so super lucky to have parents smart enough to utilize the resources that are meant for people just like you. Although you may not think so, I have to say "horray!" to you getting a full time nurse :) It doesn't replace any of your mommy skills, only enhances them. I wish I was able to find the article, because when I do, you will feel better. It was a study about children with chronic illnesses. Those kids who had stay at home mommies who were actively involved in their lives were seen in the hospital 30% less than other families, and had a better prognosis with any complications. Not even a full time nurse had the same outcome. I can only imagine your love and care for bubba is one of the main reasons why we still get to enjoy his smiles on your blog. You are irreplaceable. You're amazing.
