{Still Here}

We are still here....

Still smilling......

still doing our very best to try to figure out what is going on with our Bubba....

While adjusting to ....

our new normal.

I am taking great comfort from THIS talk given this past weekend by Ronald A. Rasband.

With Easter quickly approaching I can’t help but think of the many blessings we are promised because of the great sacrifice made by our Redeemer and Savior Jesus Christ. It is difficult to express in words the great love and admiration I have for my Savior. I think of the trials and hardships that Jesus endured and I can’t help but admire his amazing and everlasting love for us, a love that would eventually require him to lay down his life for us. As I sit and watch my sweet little Bubba struggle and his small little body fail him I take great comfort in these words
“A perfect body is not required to achieve a divine destiny. In fact, some of the sweetest spirits are housed in frail frames. …
“Eventually the time will come when each ‘spirit and … body shall be reunited again in … perfect form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame’ (Alma 11:43). Then, thanks to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can become perfected in Him.”
It gives me great comfort to know that because of our Savior, Jesus Christ, one day my sweet little Bubba will have a body in perfect form. There are many lessons that I have been taught over the past eleven and half years from Bubba, the greatest teacher I will ever know,… how to endure with grace, patience as he struggled to learn and master the simplest of tasks, love for everyone, the importance of forgiveness, and above all that a smile can completely change your outlook whether it be a good or bad day.

I know from experience, trial after trial, that God truly will not leave us comfortless. What an amazing blessing and gift we have been given. After having Bubba the atonement took on an entirely new meaning for me. Before when I thought of the atonement I thought of it in the terms of being able to be forgiven of my sins because of the great sacrifice that Christ made in the Garden of gethsemane. Now, that day in the garden has an entirely new and deeper meaning to me. Yes, we can all be forgiven of our sins because of the atonement and what a wonderful gift that is but not only did Christ take upon himself our sins but he also took upon himself every pain, affliction, and heart ache that we will ever feel. In some of my hardest moments, when I feel alone, I remember that day and that there is one person that can truly understand the feelings and heart break that I am going through. In that moment I turn it over to the Lord and I am never left comfortless, never.
I am so excited for Easter weekend and the fun that we will have with family as we hunt for Easter Eggs and play with cousins but in the midst of all of this fun I want to make sure that my sweet little family remembers the true reason for Easter.
Happy Easter from our family to yours!

Wishing you Easter blessings and the miracle of ease for Bubba. It's deeply meaningful that as hard as life can be, and as much as your heart can ache, you know that you will never be alone and comfortless.
