The gift of memories

Yesterday was hard, sad, and heart breaking.
I went to the funeral of an amazing ten year old boy, Collin's friend.
I watched a slide show of pictures accompanied by the song Baby of Mine from the soundtrack of the Movie Dumbo.

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

The pictures were beautiful.
Wonderful memories captured for his family to treasure forever.
I sat next to a friend, a mother who also has a special child.
We cried together, prayed together, and walked to our cars holding hands.

When I pulled up I was greeted by my sweet little girl running to me.
It was just what I needed.
I hugged her.... tight.
I walked in to find Collin smiling.
I hugged him... tight.

We then did the thing that I needed most.
Time together as a family... making memories.

I am grateful to know that my family is forever.
I am grateful that a day that started so heart breaking could end so beautifully.

I love that song and often sing it to my babies in the rocking chair. I'm so sorry you had such a hard week, but I'm glad it ended on a happy note. Looking forward to hanging out this week! Enjoy your anniversary!!
